Apple rubbery wood is a disease whose etiology remained uncertain for many years. Recent studies (Roth et al., 2018) have identified two new viruses called Apple rubbery wood viruses 1 and 2 (now Rubodvirus mali and Rubodvirus prosserense). The map below shows areas where the disease has been observed (the distributions of the viruses remain to be further studied).
