Comments
In the USA, it was first discovered in New York (Central Park, Brooklyn) in August 1996. Then was found in other parts of New York (Long Island, Queens, Manhattan, Staten and Prall's Islands), and the nearby state of New Jersey (Hudson, Middlesex, Union Counties). A second outbreak was found in Chicago (Illinois) in July 1998. In August 2008, it was found for the first time in Massachusetts. In California and Washington states, it has only been detected near warehouses but these incursions have not led to the establishment of the pest. Eradication efforts continue.

EPPO Reporting Service (1998/200) : an alert to this newly important pest, which is proposed for the EPPO A1 list.

EPPO Reporting Service (2008/157) : eradication continues in the USA. In 2008, it was eradicated from the Hudson county in New Jersey but discovered in Massachusetts.

EPPO Reporting Service (2013/077) : in March 2013, the NPPO officially announced the eradication of the pest from New Jersey.

EPPO Reporting Service (2013/130) : in New York, declared eradicated from Islip area in 2011, and from Manhattan and Staten Island in May 2013.
