Anoplophora chinensis(ANOLCN)

Distribution details in United Kingdom (England)

Situation
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated 2018: Absent, pest eradicated
From CABI Pest map 595 (2008): Absent, intercepted only
Comments
Single adult specimens have been found at a few locations in the United Kingdom but have not lead to the establishment of the pest. On each occasion, eradication measures were taken and followed by surveys to verify the absence of the pest.

EPPO Reporting Service (2006/098) : interceptions of A. chinensis on large consignments of Acer palmatum plants from China.

EPPO Reporting Service (2008/096) : between 2005 and 2007, single adult specimens of A. chinensis have been found at a few locations in the UK but have not lead to the establishment of the pest. However in 2005, a rather large number of beetles were found in a nursery on a consignment of young Acer trees imported from China (EPPO Reporting Service (2006/098) ). As no symptoms or insects have been observed since then, eradication has probably been achieved.

EPPO Reporting Service (2010/124) : isolated findings have been made in England (Merseyside, East Sussex and Rutland) but the pest is not established. Eradication measures have been taken.

RS 2010-09: details about the finding in Rutland. A single beetle was reported in the grounds of a local school but at first the host plant from which the beetle had emerged was unknown. Further, investigations found that this was an Acer palmatum, purchased from a local wholesaler in 2008. There is no evidence that a pest population has developed in Rutland, but surveys are continuing.

EPPO Reporting Service (2011/191) : a single beetle was found in a private garden in Greater Manchester, no further specimens were found during subsequent surveys. Surveillance continues.

Not found during the 2012 official survey. Absence again confirmed by the NPPO in 2018.
