Notes

Originally Mediterranean, but spread in ancient times to most of Europe (except northeast), Black Sea, Caucasus, Siberia, Russian Far East, Central Asia, China. Introduced as a weed to other continents. Formerly an important weed of cereal crops, but now scarce, since it is readily controlled by herbicides
