Notes

In the wide sense, A. complicatus occurs from the western Mediterranean (including Portugal and North Africa) to Greece and Turkey. The distribution of its subspecies is complex: only subsp. nainii is said to occur in Morocco and subsp. commutatus in Algeria, the others being confined to various zones in the northern Mediterranean
