Notes

Western Asia, India to Indochina, China (including Taiwan), Malesia, New Guinea, subsaharan Africa, Australia. Introduced in North America (southern), Central America, Caribbean, South America. A widespread weed native in tropical countries, and also a casual weed in various temperate countries. Var. sicula (q.v.) is unevenly distributed in the southern part of the Euromediterranean region, while the nominate subspecies occurs in Egypt (and as a casual elsewhere).
