Comments
The Brazilian NPPO indicates that the pathogen is not now present in Brazil. There are reports of the sugarcane gommosis in the northeast dating back to the 19th century (1870/80s), but the cause cannot now be determined. Batista (1953) stated that the disease had occurred in Pernambuco state (and other states of the north-east), but had disappeared.
