The previous record of X. oryzae pv. oryzae in Colombia was based on an old record (Lozano, 1977) of bacterial leaf blight in rice which did not specify the pathovar oryzae. In addition, it was based on the observation of symptoms which could have been caused by other pathogens. No evidence of X. oryzae pv. oryzae has been found by Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario (ICA) during surveillance for quarantine pests in Colombia.
