Pest status declared by NPPO: Present, with a few occurrences. Survey will continue in 2010 in the tomato-growing areas of the country (2010-04)
Comments
EPPO Reporting Service (2008/129) : in October 2007, a tomato plant showing symptoms of Tomato torrado virus was observed in 1 commercial glasshouse in the county of Csongrad (South-eastern Hungary). The identify of ToTV was confirmed. All tomato plants were destroyed and ToTV is now considered eradicated.

According to Alfaro-Fernandez et al. (2009), ToTV was detected in 3 tomato samples collected during 2007/2008 from 3 locations: Szeged, Öcsöd and Csongrad.

EPPO Reporting Service (2011/015) : the NPPO of Hungary confirmed that a limited number of ToTV outbreaks have been detected but in all cases, eradication measures have been taken.
