Frazier & Morris cite old German references (Domes, Schöniger) of symptoms which might be strawberry vein banding. The German Plant Protection Service declares that these references refer only to symptoms. German experts on strawberry viruses at the Landesanstalt für Pflanzenschutz in Stuttgart have never detected it. There is no evidence that the virus has ever occurred in Germany.
