The CABI Map (2024) mentions presence in the Canary Islands based on Valverde RA, Lozano G, Navas-Castillo J, Ramos A, Valdés F (2004) First report of Sweet potato chlorotic stunt virus and Sweet potato feathery mottle virus infecting sweet potato in Spain. Plant Disease 88(4).
In this publication, samples were taken from Málaga (southern Spain), Tenerife and Lanzarote (both Canary Islands). However, the identity of the virus was confirmed only for isolates from Málaga (mainland). Consequently, this is not considered as a record for the Canary Islands. No other record was found (2025-06)
