The publication cited in the CABI Map (2021), Ahmed & Mahmood (1969) described Quercinirvana longicephala from Pakistan. This name was considered as a synonym of Sophonia longicephala in Viraktamath & Wesley (1988) (who also mention specimens from India) and as a synonym of Nirvana orientalis, i.e. Sophonia orientalis, in Huang (1994). Sophonia longicephala appears to be currently recognized as a valid distinct species. No record confirming the presence of Sophonia orientalis in India was found, and the record is considered unreliable (2025-05).
