EPPO Reporting Service (2008/117) : until the 1990s, it was considered to be a minor pest limited to Florida (and Mexico). It is now spreading in the Americas.

Dadlani et al. (2025): first reported in San Diego county in 2004. In 2017 detected in other areas of San Diego county, and in Los Angeles (2019), Orange (2022), and Santa Barbara (2023).
