Acidovorax citrulli(PSDMAC)

Distribution details in Japan (Honshu)

Situation
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated 2023: Absent, pest eradicated
Comments
EPPO Reporting Service (2009/133) : occurs in Ibaraki Prefecture (Ogawara et al., 2008) and Nagano Prefecture (Ogiso et al., 2001).

However, according to Shimizu et al. (2008), the disease has invaded Japan but has been eradicated. In the absence of additional information, the situation of this disease is Japan remains to be confirmed.

From NPPO (2023) : although the bacterium had been detected on a few occasions from 1998 to 2012 on Citrullus lanatus and Cucumis melo in several production sites (located in Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyūshū and Shikoku), eradication measures have always been immediately taken (including destruction of affected plants). Annual official surveys (on approximately 600 production sites) have confirmed that the bacterium has been absent from Japan since 2013.
