The ISSG database considers that P. maculata (as P. insularum) occurs in Hawaii based on Burks et al. (2010). However, the latter refers to a study conducted in Texas (and does not specifically mention the presence of P. insularum as such in Hawaii). This record is now considered as doubtful.
