Distribution details in Japan

Situation
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated 2012: Absent, invalid record
From CABI Pest map 070 (2012): Absent, invalid record
Comments
Both the CABI map no. 70 of 1974 and USDA (1985) were referring to a paper from Shiraki (1952) as the source of the records of Lobesia botrana in Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu and Shikoku. Itself possibly referring to Matsumura (1931).

This record is now considered to be a misidentification (Bae & Komai, 1991). Absence was confirmed by the NPPO of Japan in its correspondance with CABI (2012-11).
