The record based on ICTV (2002) is considered unreliable as the original source of the record relied solely on disease symptoms and the virus was not verified by test indicator plants or ELISA. There have been no subsequent reports of the virus in Chile and no detection of the disease during official monitoring programmes. As of 2013, the NPPO of Chile considered that this virus was absent from its territory.
EPPO Reporting Service (2016/108) : the presence of the virus was first confirmed by Peña et al. (2016) on potato samples which had been collected in 2012 on native potatoes from several locations in the Chiloé Archipelago (Chiloé province).
