The Canadian NPPO reports that, following detection of the viroid in USA, peach and nectarine cvs at the national repository at Sidney, British Columbia were tested in 1996, and 50 trees of 34 cvs found positive by dot-blot analysis. In view of the history of distribution of material from this repository to other areas in Canada, PLMVd is probably widespread in Canada.
