EPPO Reporting Service (2014/001) : first found in September 2013 in Northeastern Italy (Bressanvido, Vicenza province, Veneto region) on black walnut trees (Juglans nigra) of different ages (trees around 80 years old in a garden - 15 years old trees in a neary walnut plantation for timber production). Eradication measures are being considered.

EPPO Reporting Service (2015/004) : also found in the province of Vicenza (Veneto region), but the disease was not observed.

EPPO Reporting Service (2016/153) : update of the situation. The disease has been found in Veneto (70 000 ha around the province of Vicenza) and in Piemonte (2 sites). The vector, P. juglandis, has been trapped in small numbers in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Lombardia. Under official control.

EPPO Reporting Service (2019/102) : update of the situation. Pityophthorus juglandis has been found in Toscana, Emilia-Romagna.

EPPO Reporting Service (2020/222) : eradicated in Toscana.

EPPO Reporting Service (2022/154) : second outbreak in Emilia-Romagna, found again in Toscana.

EPPO Reporting Service (2021/085) : study on spread capacity in Veneto.

EPPO Reporting Service (2023/001) : eradicated in Luzzara (Emilia-Romagna).
