EPPO Global Database

'Candidatus Phytoplasma pyri'(PHYPPY)

Distribution details in Australia (Victoria)

Situation
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated 1996: Absent, unreliable record
Comments
EPPO Reporting Service (1997/091) : pear trees showing decline symptoms found for first time in a major pear-growing area - Goulburn valley in Victoria. RFLP analysis showed the phytoplasma involved to be close to sweet potato little leaf phytoplasma. Apparently different from the pathogen in California (USA). Presumably also different from the agent of pear decline in the EPPO region.
