Comments
EPPO Reporting Service (2005/029) : P. pachyrhizi was fist discovered in Louisiana in 2004 and spread rapidly, particularly in the south-eastern part of the USA. It is considered that the rust was transported from South America to North America by Hurricane Ivan which occurred in September 2004. However, in most areas in the Midwest and Plains regions, soybean rust usually appears late in the season and has a low impact. Active surveillance programme are ongoing.
