2012: Absent, unreliable record
Signs of a possible infestation had been reported by an association (Accion Ambiental) on 2 Howea forsteriana trees in the Praia da Luz area (Algarve) at the end of 2011. The regional PPO visited the place concerned but no element could confirm the presence of the pest. In the absence of any convincing symptoms or insect specimens, this 'record' remains unconfirmed.
