There were previous reports of the pest presence in the Darwin area of the Northern Territory in 1914 and 1915, or in insect collections. However, intensive plant pest surveillance activities over the past 20 years, which included specific surveys for P. ziziphi, have not detected it in the Darwin area or any other region of Australia.
