In 2002, maize crops showing severe dwarfing symptoms were observed in Northern Greece (Macedonia). In some regions (Imathia and Serres) crop losses reached more than 70%. In 2003, only a few cases were recorded. Serological and molecular analysis confirmed the presence of MRDV.
