Comments
Meleita et al. (2022) list M. luci as present in Argentina, Bolivia and Ecuador. This was based on the following facts:
- Esbenshade & Triantaphyllou (1985) found a esterase phenotype designated M3 with three bands in three populations from South America (Argentina, Bolivia and Ecuador), which could not be identified to species level.
- according to Carneiro et al. (2014), the M. luci esterase phenotype L3 is identical to the M3 phenotype identified by Esbenshade & Triantaphyllou (1985).
However the EPPO Secretariat considered that it was not sufficient evidence to consider that M. luci occurs in Argentina, Bolivia and Ecuador.
