EPPO Reporting Service (2005/005) : first found in 2004 in western Lombardia, at 2 localities.
From 2005 to 2009, the rice water weevil has spread to nearly all rice paddies in Lombardia and Piemonte regions, covering an area of 200 000 ha (Lupi et al., 2010).
EPPO Reporting Service (2015/073) : in addition to Lombardia and Piemonte, it was also found in 2013 near Ferrara (Emilia-Romagna region), and in 2014 near Verona (Veneto region) and in 4 other localities near Ferrara. Economic damage has remained minimal and limited to small areas every year.
From 2005 to 2009, the rice water weevil has spread to nearly all rice paddies in Lombardia and Piemonte regions, covering an area of 200 000 ha (Lupi et al., 2010).
EPPO Reporting Service (2015/073) : in addition to Lombardia and Piemonte, it was also found in 2013 near Ferrara (Emilia-Romagna region), and in 2014 near Verona (Veneto region) and in 4 other localities near Ferrara. Economic damage has remained minimal and limited to small areas every year.
