EPPO Reporting Service (2012/006) : first described in 1970 from a village in India (Chapli, Udaipur district, Rajasthan) on maize. H. zeae is now known to be widely distributed in the major maize-growing areas of northern, central, eastern and western parts of India (Srivastava & Chawla, 2007).
