EPPO Reporting Service (2013/108) : first adult specimen caught in the locality of Magreta di Formigine (province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna region) in September 2012.
EPPO Reporting Service (2016/147) : spreading in Northern Italy (Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lombardia, Piemonte and Veneto). Damage has been observed in some areas of Emilia-Romagna on several fruit crops.
From NPPO (2018): also found in Campania (in urban areas near Napoli), in the city of Rome (in a private garden), and in Sicilia (in an agricultural area in the municipality of Ispica).
EPPO Reporting Service (2018/152) : observations made in Lombardia suggest that rice could be a host plant.
EPPO Reporting Service (2019/117) : recorded in Abruzzo, Apulia, Campania, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardia, Marche, Piemonte, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicilia, Toscana, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Valle d’Aosta.
From NPPO (2020): severe damage was reported on different crops, mainly on pear orchards. No measures are available to prevent the spread of the harmful organism. A biological control programme has been launched on the national territory.
