Comments
Gunnera tinctoria was first recordd in the wild in 1939 on Achill Island. Pollen analysis suggest that it could have been present on Achill Island for 70-100 years. The species is considered invasive on the west of Ireland and is not yet invasive in other areas of the country (Maguire, 2009).
