EPPO Reporting Service (2011/076) : articles published in the Egyptian newspapers have indicated that T. absoluta is widespread and causing severe economic losses in tomato crops. However, this has not been confirmed by other sources.

EPPO Reporting Service (2016/108) : the pest was first found in 2009 and then rapidly spread across the country.
