EPPO Reporting Service (1997/145) : found in a limited number of ornamental plants in Melbourne and Adelaide botanical gardens. Surveys throughout Australia have failed to detect fireblight in commercial orchards, nurseries and urban areas. Intensive quarantine measures applied.

EPPO Reporting Service (1998/005): after the initial discovery, suspect trees were destroyed and a survey was carried out in all States and ACT. This intensive survey covered about 6 million trees, more than 1600 apple and pear orchards, 203 nurseries in major growing areas, and host trees in parks and gardens of 82 cities. No evidence of fireblight was found.
