Comments
In 2012, the NPPO of Peru declared that the report publication from Jatala et al. (1977) was an isolated record without scientific basis. The presence of D. destructor has never been detected or reported by the NPPO laboratories or any other research institutions in Peru, since 1977. The NPPO officially declared that D. destructor is absent from Peru.

------- Isolated finding. At that time, the authors commented that because the nematode was found in an area already under quarantine (presence of brown rot) and of limited potato cultivation, the possibilities for establishment and spread of D. destructor were very limited.
