Comments
B. dorsalis is only established in Hawaii (since about 1945, developed high populations by 1948). Isolated outbreaks are occasionally reported from California and Florida but always subjected to eradication measures.

In August 2012, the NPPO officially declared the eradication of B. dorsalis from California and USA (EPPO note: presumably continental US territory - as nothing indicates that B. dorsalis no longer occurs in Hawaii).

Detected again in July 2013 in parts of Orange county (9 larva, 92 adults) and of the Los Angeles county (19 adults), under eradication.

In April 2014, quarantine was lifted in Orange and Los Angeles counties. In May 2014, the pest was declared eradicated from California.

In June 2015, found in the Cupertino area of Santa Clara and in the Inglewood area of Los Angeles (California). Eradicated in 2016.

In August 2017, 8 adult flies were found in Los Angeles. Under eradication.

In September 2023, there are 2 quarantine zones in California: Contra Costa County and in Santa Clara County. Under eradication.
