Cuscuta campestris(CVCCA)

Distribution details in Algeria

Situation
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated 2014: Present, few occurrences
First recorded in: 2008
Comments
First observed in July 2012 along Oued Amieur (wilaya of Tlemcen - Northwestern Algeria) parasitizing a Xanthium italicum stand. Growers from the region of Ben Sekrane (along Oued Isser - 32 km north of Tlemcen) had in fact seen C. campestris in their crops earlier in 2008. It is suspected that imports of leguminous seeds from USA have introduced C. campestris into Algeria.
