The presence of CLVd in Costa Rica is suspected but has not been confirmed.

EPPO Reporting Service (2008/007) : CLVd was originally isolated from symptomless Columnea erythrophaea (Gesneriaceae, originating from Costa Rica and cultivated for ornamental purposes), during experiments carried out in a commercial nursery in Maryland (US). However, the origin and detailed geographical distribution of CLVd in the Americas remains unknown.
