Begomovirus chillicapsici(CHILCU)
Distribution details in Oman
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated
2013: Present, no details
From the literature available on Oman and Iran, some isolates from these countries show high sequence identity among themselves (see references below and under Iran). The first isolates reported from Oman had 88–91.1% identity with chilli leaf curl virus isolate from Pakistan (Khan et al., 2013) (recognized by the ICTV as chilli leaf curl virus). Since the current species demarcation threshold is 91% (Brown et al., 2015), and some isolates were above 91% in Khan et al. (2013), the virus is recorded as present in Oman. Isolates from Iran had high sequence identity with some Omani isolates, and the virus is also recorded as present in Iran. However, there is uncertainty as to which isolates from Oman and Iran belong to chilli leaf curl virus. Hosts identified only in these countries were not added to the host list in EPPO Global Database due to uncertainty (2026-02).
