Several sources refer to the presence of chilli leaf curl virus in Sri Lanka, based on sequences in Senanayake et al. (2013 - reference below). However, the isolates detected by Senanayake et al. (2013) are currently considered as a distinct virus - chilli leaf curl Sri Lanka virus (Begomovirus capsisrilankaense) - in the ICTV. No record of isolates from Sri Lanka corresponding to chilli leaf curl virus were found when preparing this distribution (2026-02).
