It was first found mainly in southern states but now occurring across the USA. Several biotypes have been recorded (including B-MEAM1 and Q-MED).
EPPO Reporting Service (1993/114) : two biotypes identified in Arizona (A and B). Only B present on Hawaii.
Krause-Sakate et al. (2025): MEAM1 is established throughout the United States, while MED is documented in 27 states.
