Comments
Symptoms were first observed in June 2015 on 5 banana plants in a farm close to Hibberdene (KwaZulu Natal). Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of BBTV in these 5 symptomatic plants.

Officially confirmed in February 2017 (IPPC). A follow up survey was done in February 2016 and showed that the virus had spread further than the initial infection point, but still within the Hibberdene area.
