Widespread, particularly in the eastern half and in the far south. Under eradication in some parts of the north and west, and south. A few counties in the centre of the state make up a boll weevil-free area.
Davis et al. (2020) and Raszick (2021): boll weevil is considered eradicated throughout most of Texas, except in the Lower Rio Grande Valley where the Cotton Boll Weevil Eradication programme continues.
