Detected for the first time in Canada in 1992 in a pepper greenhouse in British Columbia. This oubreak was subsequently eradicated. As the pest is not expected to establish outdoors in Canada no regulations were put in place. In 2009/2010, the pest was found in several pepper greennhouses in Ontario but all outbreaks were eradicated.
Catalina Fernández et al. (2020): observed to occur in both field and greenhouse pepper crops in southern Ontario.
