First report of Grapevine flavescence dorée phytoplasma in the Republic of Moldova
The National Agency for Food Safety (Agenția Națională pentru Siguranța Alimentelor, ANSA) of Moldova recently reported the first detection Grapevine flavescence dorée phytoplasma (EPPO A2 List) on its territory.
The phytoplasma was detected as part of an official survey on grapevines (Vitis vinifera) in several vineyards. Outbreaks have been identified both in mother vineyards intended for the production of planting material and in commercial vineyards. The identity of the pathogen was confirmed by laboratory tests.
Phytosanitary measures are implemented and include the demarcation of affected areas, the destruction of infected plants and restrictions on the movement of Vitis planting material.
