Incursion of Lycorma delicatula in Canada
The spotted lanternfly Lycorma delicatula (Hemiptera: Fulgoridae - EPPO A1 List) is an Asian pest which was introduced into the USA in 2014 (EPPO RS 2015/023) and then spread to several other US states despite official control measures.
L. delicatula is first reported from Canada. It was detected in September 2026 in the municipality of Windsor (Ontario). No established population of L. delicatula has been confirmed in Canada to date.
L. delicatula is a regulated pest in Canada since 2018. Official measures are applied and include restrictions of movement of infested plant material. A delimiting survey is conducted.
