Interceptions of Elsinoë citricola on citrus fruit in the EU
The EU database TRACES include non-compliance data of consignments of plants, plant products and other objects presented for import into the EU. Between January 2022 and the 21st May 2026, the database reports the following interceptions due to findings of Elsinoë citricola (EU Quarantine pest, 2019/2072 Annex II A) in citrus fruits:
Country of Origin | Species | Number of consignments |
Bangladesh | Citrus medica | 1 |
Bangladesh | Citrus x aurantiifolia | 2 |
Indonesia | Citrus x limonia | 1 |
Philippines | Citrus | 1 |
Philippines | x Citrofortunella microcarpa | 1 |
If these identifications are confirmed, this would extend the geographical and host range of Elsinoë citricola. The EPPO Secretariat did not find other evidence of the presence of Elsinoë citricola in these countries.
In addition, Elsinoë at genus level was identified on Citrus x aurantium var. paradisi fruit from Botswana. The EPPO Secretariat had no record of Elsinoë species in Botswana.
