In Greece, Bactrocera dorsalis (Diptera: Tephritidae – EPPO A1 List) was first reported in June 2024 (EPPO RS 2024/148) and later eradicated (RS 2024/187).

In 2025, a monitoring network for the pest was established in the Attica Region, consisting of 103 Delta-type traps with the attractant methyl eugenol. In July 2025, 16 adult males were simultaneously captured in 6 different traps located in the Central district of Athens at a distance of 500 m to approximately 2 km from each other. As a consequence, 100 additional yellow sticky traps with methyl eugenol were installed in the district. Up to December 2025, 35 B. dorsalis were caught in various traps in the Central district of Athens and in one location in the Western district of Athens, over an area of 8-9 km2. In total, in 2025, 41 adult males of the insect were captured in 23 traps.

A regulated area has been demarcated, and official measures are applied according to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/311.
