Eradication of Aleurocanthus spiniferus in Austria
Aleurocanthus spiniferus (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae – EPPO A2 List) was first found in Austria in April 2025 on three citrus plants (Citrus meyerii x Citrus sinensis ‘Doppio Sanguigno) in a nursery in the municipality of Gamlitz (Steiermark region) (EPPO RS 2025/117). Inspection of symptomless Citrus sp. and Rosa sp., held in quarantine in the nursery, and surveys of sticky traps from May to July confirmed that A. spiniferus is no longer present.
The pest status of Aleurocanthus spiniferus in Austria is officially declared as: Absent, pest eradicated.
