Update of the situation of Scirtothrips citri in Israel
Scirtothrips citri (Thysanoptera: Thripidae – EPPO A2 List*) was first reported in Israel in spring 2022, from citrus groves in the Upper Galilee area (Northern Israel) (EPPO RS 2022/164) as well as the northern Negev area on jojoba trees (Simmondsia chinensis) (RS 2023/060)
The NPPO of Israel recently informed the EPPO Secretariat that since the first report, official surveys have shown that S. citri has spread in Israel and its distribution is no longer considered restricted.
The pest status of Scirtothrips citri in Israel is officially declared as: Present: widely distributed.
