First report of Amrasca biguttula in Central America (Honduras)
The two-spot cotton leafhopper, Amrasca biguttula (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) is first reported from Honduras. This is the first report for Central America.
Several hundred specimens were collected in 2025 from an okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) plantation in Pavana (department of Choluteca) and identified based on morphological tests.
The species was also observed in okra crops in other localities in Choluteca department and the authors consider that it is likely present in other departments in Honduras as well as in Nicaragua and in El Salvador.
The situation of Amrasca biguttula in Honduras can be described as: Present, widely distributed.
