Alien species of Scolytinae and Platypodinae introduced or intercepted in France


A recent review provides an annotated list of 22 alien species of bark and ambrosia beetles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Scolytinae and Platypodinae) that have been introduced or intercepted in France since the beginning of the 19th century. In addition to them, an unidentified species resembling Amasa truncata has also been recorded. These species were discovered during various research projects, as well as during official surveillance programmes. This review paper provides details about the native range of the pests, their host plants and situation in France. The EPPO Secretariat has summarized some of the information in the table below.
