First report of Spodoptera frugiperda in Yemen


Acccording to recent information collected by FAO, Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae – EPPO A1 List) was found for the first time in Yemen at the end of July 2018. In order to follow the spread of S. frugiperda in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, FAO has set up a monitoring and early warning system which can be consulted on the Internet. This website shows compiled results of surveys checking hundreds of thousands of plants and using numerous traps.

The situation of Spodoptera frugiperda in Yemen can be described as follows: Present: only in some areas (first found in July 2018).
